Advertising Disclosure

Calculix is free to use and always will be. Advertising is what pays for it. This page explains exactly how that works, because a reader deserves to know who is paying for what they are reading.

1. How we are funded

Three sources, in this order of size:

  • Third-party advertising. Companies such as Google AdSense and similar networks pay to show ads on our pages.
  • Our own promotions. Some banners promote AjonTec, the technology brand of Dream Blend Solutions Private Limited — the company that builds and runs Calculix. These are clearly ours and set no cookies.
  • Memberships. Readers who prefer no advertising can pay a small amount to remove it entirely.

2. One advertising company per page

This is a deliberate rule, not an accident of how things happened to be set up. A page carries advertising from one company only. Never two networks side by side.

It matters for three reasons. Several advertising networks forbid it in their own terms. Multiple networks on one page load more scripts and make the page slower. And a reader shown two different companies' creatives on one screen is looking at something that reads as spam, whatever the content says.

3. What advertising never influences

Stated as plainly as we can:

  • No calculation result is affected by advertising. Not one figure, anywhere, ever.
  • No article recommends a product because someone paid for it. Where we link to a paid placement, it is marked.
  • Paying members get identical results to free users. A membership removes advertising. It unlocks nothing and changes nothing.

4. How sponsored links are marked

Every advertisement and every paid or promotional link on this site carries rel="sponsored nofollow", which is what Google requires and what tells search engines the link was not an editorial recommendation. Advertising blocks are visually separated from content and, where the setting is enabled, labelled.

Links to AjonTec are promotions for our own company. We say so rather than presenting them as neutral recommendations.

5. Removing advertising

Take a membership from a small monthly amount and advertising disappears across the whole site. For members the advertising scripts are not loaded at all — not hidden with CSS, not blocked after loading. Nothing is requested, so nothing can track you.

See membership options.

6. Controlling what you see

  • Choose Reject non-essential in our cookie banner, or change it later from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
  • Opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
  • Read our Cookie Policy for the full list of what is set.

7. Advertising with us

We accept direct advertising from businesses whose products are genuinely relevant to our readers — accounting practices, business software, financial services. We do not accept advertising for anything we would not be comfortable recommending, and we do not sell editorial coverage at any price.
