Selling Price Calculator
Work backwards from the margin you want to the price you should charge.
Tell us your cost and the margin you want. We will work out the price to charge — including the gross-up needed to absorb a marketplace commission and still leave your profit intact.
Pricing from margin, correctly
To achieve a margin on the selling price you divide, you do not multiply. For a 30% margin on a ₹100 cost, the price is 100 ÷ 0.70 = ₹142.86. Adding 30% gives ₹130, which delivers only a 23% margin. This single error costs Indian sellers real money every day.
Commission has to be grossed up
If a marketplace takes 15% of the final selling price, adding 15% to your price does not cover it — the commission is charged on the higher number. The price must be divided by 0.85 instead. The calculator does this automatically so your target profit survives the platform's cut.
Discounts have to be planned into the MRP
If you intend to advertise 20% off, the discount has to be built into the list price before you publish it. Enter your planned discount and the calculator gives you the MRP that leaves your margin untouched after the reduction.
Where GST sits
GST is added on top of your selling price and passed to the government. It is not part of your margin. The calculator shows the price before GST, the tax amount, and what the customer finally pays.
